Two new cats (and two new poems) fresh from the studio on Rd 29
Stealth – mahogany carving on oak, 30 inches by 16 inches by 6 inches
Stealth steals his way
through a jungle sea
teeth sheathed
taste sated
haste stalled
until the heat cools.
Hunger teases its way up
seethes,
unleashes,
and the eyes pounce
upon what they see
Burning Bright – watercolor and pen, cold pressed water color paper 22 inches by 30 inches
Tiger Tiger burning bright
Sinuous stripes like firelight
Wish I may and wish I might
See the world with tiger sight
One eye open, soft and round
One eye narrowed on something found
Footsteps cloaked by spongy ground
When shadows move there is no sound
Tiger Tiger burning bright
Sinuous stripes like fire’s light
Wish I may and wish I might
See the world with a tiger’s sight
Grasses part like an ancient sea
For such a fearsome beast as he
His piercing gaze passes over me
My captive breath can now be free
Tiger Tiger burning bright
Sinuous stripes like firelight
Wish I may and wish I might
See the world with tiger sight
I enjoyed this very much. I usually don’t care for repetition but this was just enough; perfect.
